With the Easter weekend rapidly approaching the North Easts has a bewildering array of events for you to squander your hard earned cash on this weekend. First up is the 'Those That Know' party with Danny 'Red Rack'em' Berman on Easter Sunday in sunny Darlington. Nottingham Producer and DJ Danny Berman aka Red Rack'em/Hot Coins has had a pretty hectic 18 months or so with appearances at Gilles Petersons Worldwide Awards, Snowbombing, Matter, Glastonbury and Big Chill as well as releasing many records on several different labels including Tirk, Deep Freeze, Untracked and Autodiscoteque. He's been making waves with a string of cracking remixes and his own original productions as Hot Coins & Red Rack'em as well as becoming an indemand DJ country wide and 2010 should continue at pace for Danny as he's taking the plunge with his own label 'Bergerac' (first release out in May).
His latest EP for Untracked 'In Love Again' has once again received the Gilles Peterson Radio 1 treatment and has flown off the shelves. More music is on the way on Detroit label Undertones, Shift Music and Home Taping, Plus there's rumblings that the long awaited Hot Coins and Marlinspike albums may surface this year. We at Tourist have been tipping Danny for big things to come so this could prove to be a great chance to see him play at an intimate gathering before he blows up. Get amongst it!
You can get more info on the party here on the Facebook page and download mixes from the 'Those That Know' gang on their website here.
Meanwhile, up here in Newcastle the Road To Rimini crew will be taking overragnet at theCut in a few weeks and for the whole night and a taster of what to expect Mike Rimini will be helming the ones and two's with a selection of the weird and undoubtably wonderful from the world of Krautrock, Disco Italo and Cosmiche this Saturday night. For most, the R2R gang need no introduction, their regular parties over the last few years bringing some of the best, not to mention most interesting guests up to the area to play. DJ's and Artisits the likes of Heartbreak, Ali Renault, Andy Blake, Den Haan, Legowelt, Gesaffelstein and The Hacker, to name but a few have helped Road To Rimini cut across all manner of exciting electronic music from Disco, Electro and Techno to Krautrock, EBM and New Beat and keep them critically as well as publicly adored. Anyhoo, both nights promise to be very special events so we advise that you get yourself along for them!

Further more in nepotistic news, the Tourist house band better known as 'The Last Waltz DJs' will be hosting a Dada Party for Louche down in Leeds this Thuraday before some Ricardo Villalobos later that night at new club 'Distrikt'. You can check details of the warm up party here, looks like it should be a waxa! While on the subjuct of the clan of Last Waltz, the chaps will be putting out their limited edition debut single Criminal World very soon. A cover of a track from Duncan Browne's mid 70's project 'Metro'. They are in esteemed company indeed as the track was also covered by David Bowie on his classic 'Lets Dance' album. You can get a taste of the brilliant Phoreski remix of the track on their Myspace by clicking here and listen to their original cover of it on their Soundcloud page here, the track was ably produced by local bod Micky C and his Soundcloud has a few bits that might interest y'all. As if thats not enough Last Walz gear for you, you can also check out where to see the lads DJing by having a gander of their Resident Advisor page here.
Keeping it (semi) local this week we wrap thing up with one of my favourite recent mixes from Mr Peetaaaleeee & The Evening Chroincle's 'Vest Wearer Of The Year 91-92' Mr Antony Daly. Tony has been a constant on the Newcastle clubbing circuit for as long as most people care to remember now, promoting and DJing at the now sadly defunct 'Reverb' night but continues to drag the city kicking and screaming into a the firmanent of the Balearic night with the excellent 'Suono' parties. You can get your hands on more of Tonys mixes on his facebook group page and get a rundown on this seasons Suono sessions on their page here. The parties kick off this Sunday at Newcastles premier boozer The Tanners Arms this Sunday with a little get together with details here.

Little bonus today as unusually, I've been up and about fresh on a Sunday morning for the first time in a very long time. Anyhoo, Just been listening to this while my better half cobbles together some home made bread.
DJ Harvey , the pioneer, the enigma, the beard, Mr Cosmic himself - enjoy this little set of psyche and beard rock from a few years back.
Perfect for a Sunday afternoon session.

If you want to hear to the sound of West London on NYE in ‘87 then it probably doesn’t get much better than this for capturing the vibe (it’s rough though). If anyone has the DJ Milo Wild Bunch compilation this is where the live segments came from. Nice to hear the Wild Bunch and Soul II Soul in full flow in a club setting, especially when Daddy G of Wild Bunch/Massive Attack fame can’t remember the name of their new record (‘it’s so fresh I can’t remember’) and that record is their seminal cover of ‘The Look of Love’. From the Test Pressing website.
Bringing it back to the future, you can check out DJ Milo of the Wild Bunch's website here and it’s well worth a gander. Proper Bristol legend still moving.

No tracklist for this one but I've ID'd a handful of the expected stuff you'd get from Mr Jackson, The Revenge edit of Hot Chocolates 'Cadillac', some jacking Chicago 'ouse from the Dissident camp with Neville Watson, and tracks from the likes of Yazoo, Tiger & Woods, Mike Dunn, Frankie Knuckles, Massimo Barsotti, Alton Miller, STL, Throbbing Gristle, Levon Vincent, and DFA affiliates Runaway, Still Going, Juan Maclean.

Another helping of rump-shakin' beatdown house and funk from Tirk Records' Danny Berman aka Hot Coins/Red Rack'em. The last mix we posted by Danny a few weeks back has been getting a suprising amount of attention and looks like it could turn out to be one of our most downloaded mixes currently hovering around the 1,700 mark. With that in mind we thought we'd treat you to another earfull from Mr Berman before we drop our usual weekend post, so we've raided the hard drives here at Tourist Towers and dug this slightly older mix-up session out for you cats. Another slice of brilliant, heads down, no nonsence future house and disko.

After a four month hiatus the Rimini boyz are proud to present the first Road to Rimini Star&Shadow party of 2010!
.... a two room grande spectacular that will form part of the official AV festival programme!
The AV festival's theme is 'energy' and if it’s (hi)energy you’re after you need look no further than the industrial heartland of Holland – Rotterdam; home to Moustache Records.
Moustache Records has released vinyl from the likes of Alden Tyrell, Fred Ventura, Mark Du Mosch, Mr Pauli, Sneak Thief and Polygamy Boys.
For Rimini’s AV fest debut they’ll be presenting label boss, DJ David Vunk and a live performance from Moustache act Electrick Dragon.
Vunk’s sets are pure unadulterated dance floor fun from across the last 30 years. There is probably no other DJ at the moment who can match him for energy and commitment to getting your feet moving. Combined with Electrick Dragon’s live set this will be a joyous journey into the heart of the burgeoning new European disco sound. Expect real italo obscurities and hi-nrg muscular action!!!
Supporting in the cinema will be local acts Fiero Fuxx and local legends Artwhore providing a darker aural and visual experience that will mix live electronix and visuals.
If you've got time, we strongly advise buying advance tickets for this from the AV festival website which you can find at http://www.avfestival.co.uk/

Just a quickie today as the credit crunch and it’s innumerable happenstance’s dictate our resource’s are best employed in other areas, such as putting food on the table and salting our socialist principle’s in order we may swallow them to appease the upcoming corporate wrath. But enough of this harping and on with some tunes!
Another bonus of writing a blog which is predominately music based means that sometimes you get the chance to put people onto an artist or group that you feel may have gone un noticed or has slipped by the public conciousness without garnering the popularity you feel is due them. This is a wrong I intend to right with a fab new mix by Chris Todd aka ‘Hot Toddy’ of Nottinghams legendary live disco favourites Crazy P now. Chris has been turning out brilliant records and mixes (see his recent 'Late Night Boogie' single and the fantastic Morgan Geist mix of 'I Need Love' for proof!) now for over a decade now yet somehow seems to have never had the profiule of some of his peers. Nice smooth soul vibes to start off with before the action re-locates squarely to the dancefloors. An storming hour and a half or so and a real treat if you've not come across this chap before now.
Warning: Contains more bombs than a B 52.
1. Hot Toddy – Magnetic
2. David E Sugar – Hey Hey
3. The Emptyheads ft. Dynamite MC – Shake (Yes King Mix)
4. Amplified Orchestra – Fun Thing
